Meet Raquel Loving: Our ‘Go Get the Axe’ Superhero—Who Can Play a Mean “Ode to Joy”
Whether appearing on stage or working behind the scenes, producing a feature-length play is never an easy task. Yet somehow, Raquel Loving has managed to do a formidable job of both appearing in Go Get the Axe (playing “Ladi”) and serving as our assistant stage manager.
How does she manage it all? We’re not sure, but we think it has something to do with her recorder-playing skills. Here are a few things you didn’t know about Raquel, in her own words.
1. SHE PLAYS A MEAN “ODE TO JOY.”
At one time, I could play "Ode to Joy" on four different instruments—one being a pink recorder.
2. SHE IS A HARRY POTTER LATECOMER.
I’m currently reading Harry Potter for the first time.
3. SHE HAS BEEN CAST AS “THE DAD” ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION.
I have played a Dad four times, thanks to all-female and gender-bending Shakespeare productions.
4. SHE’S GOT HER SEA LEGS.
I know how to sail.
5. EVERYONE IN HER FAMILY HAS NAMES THAT START WITH A P.
Like the Kardashians, but southern VA.
